Epoxy driveway resurfacing Sunshine Coast
Driveway resurfacing turns a tired, stained concrete driveway into a sealed, stone-look surface without the cost of a new slab. We prepare the concrete, and apply a UV-stable coating with an anti-slip finish.
A new-look driveway without ripping out the old one
Replacing a concrete driveway means demolition, skip bins, a week without vehicle access and a new slab that has to cure. Resurfacing keeps the existing concrete, which is usually structurally fine, and gives it a new wearing surface. It is a fraction of the cost and the driveway is back in use within a week.
It suits driveways that are stained, faded, patchy from repairs, or simply dated. It does not suit a driveway that is sinking, badly cracked through or breaking up at the edges, and we will tell you if that is what we find.
Outdoor coatings are not the same as garage epoxy
Standard epoxy yellows and chalks in Queensland sun. For driveways, paths and pool surrounds we use a UV-stable system: an epoxy base for adhesion and build, finished with a polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat that holds its colour outdoors. The Stone Flake Range is the usual choice outdoors because its hybrid-size chips hide sand, leaf litter and tyre marks and the finish looks like exposed aggregate or natural stone.
Every outdoor floor gets an anti-slip aggregate in the topcoat. We can adjust the grade from a fine texture for a flat driveway to a coarser one for a steep drive or a ramp.
Preparation and repair
The driveway is pressure washed and diamond ground to remove the weathered top layer, any old sealer and tyre rubber. Cracks are cut out and filled with flexible filler, expansion joints are kept and re-cut where needed so the slab can still move, and spalled patches are repaired. Because driveways are exposed to rain we allow for a moisture check and coat only when the slab is dry.
How long you are off the driveway
Most driveways are prepared and coated over two days, with a third day needed on larger or heavily repaired drives. Most driveways are ready to walk on and drive on within 24 hours of the topcoat going down. We schedule around the weather and will move a booking rather than coat a wet or very hot slab.
Care and longevity
A UV-stable, flake driveway needs a hose and the occasional broom. It will not hold oil or tyre marks the way bare concrete does, and moss and mould do not get a grip in a sealed surface. A properly prepared coating does not peel or delaminate.
