Epoxy patio and alfresco floors Sunshine Coast
Epoxy patio floors give outdoor living areas a seamless, easy-clean finish that stands up to sun, rain and pool water. The Stone Flake Range is the popular choice outdoors because it hides sand and dust and adds grip.
Alfresco areas, pool surrounds and entry steps
Outdoor living areas on the Sunshine Coast get hard use: sand, sunscreen, wet feet, dogs, and the barbecue. Bare or painted concrete stains and grows mould in the shade; pavers and tiles collect dirt in the joints. A seamless coated floor is hosed clean in minutes and there are no grout lines to scrub.
We coat covered alfresco areas, open patios, pool surrounds, front entries and steps. Steps get a contrasting nosing or a coarser anti-slip grade on the tread so they are easy to see and safe when wet.
The right system for sun and water
Outdoor floors get the same UV-stable build as our driveways: an epoxy base with a polyaspartic or polyurethane clear coat that will not yellow, and an anti-slip aggregate in the topcoat. Around pools we use a finer, barefoot-friendly texture. Salt and chlorinated water do not affect the cured coating.
The Stone Flake Range is what most customers choose outside. Lighter blends such as Limestone, Travertine and Sandstone stay cooler underfoot in full sun than dark ones like Black Top or Midnight, they hide sand and dust between hoses, and the finish reads as natural stone.
Coating over pavers and tiles
Sound outdoor tiles and pavers can be coated rather than removed. We grind the surface, fill the joints flush and prime before the base coat, so the finished floor is seamless with no pattern showing through. Loose or drummy tiles are lifted and patched first. See the epoxy over tiles page for the detail.
Timing and cure
An average alfresco area is prepared and coated in a day, with pool surrounds and stepped entries usually taking two. Foot traffic is fine after 24 hours; give it a few days before dragging outdoor furniture back on. We coat only in dry weather and avoid the hottest part of summer afternoons, when the surface temperature is too high for a good finish.
